Badge Apps Tips for agencies
Built for the detective who has to answer for every tip.
Most ways of receiving tips stop at collecting them. Once a tip lands in a mailbox it has no status, no owner, no clock, and no relationship to the other forty tips on the same case. Badge Apps Tips treats every tip as a work item anchored to your agency case number: assigned, tracked and cleared with a name and a timestamp at every step, preserved for discovery, and reported out in the form the case file and the prosecutor need.
Visibility
What came in, and from where?
New tips are unmistakable. Every source is labeled: your public page, a phone call, solvethecase.org, Need to ID, Coreincident. Nothing sits buried in a mailbox.
Accountability
Who owns it, and how long has it sat?
Every tip has an owner or is loudly unowned. Age is always on screen and turns red past the threshold you set. Supervisors stop asking for status.
Lifecycle
What was done, and how did it end?
Received, reviewed, assigned, worked, cleared, each stamped with who and when. Dispositions are structured, so the case file and the prosecutor get the same answer.
How it works
One path for every tip, whichever door it comes through. Each step leaves a name and a time on the record.
STEP 1
A tip comes in
Public tip page, solvethecase.org, your phone line or front desk. Anonymous or not, with a reference code.
STEP 2
It lands on the case board
Anchored to your case number, with a status, an owner, a clock, and the other tips on the same case.
STEP 3
It gets worked
Assign it, add tasks, ask the tipster a question without learning who they are, attach what they send.
STEP 4
It is cleared
A structured disposition with a note, stamped with who and when. Nothing is edited in place.
STEP 5
It is ready for discovery
A PDF of every tip and its full history, the same data as JSON, and hashes, in one export for the case file.
What you get
Case board
All tips on a case with live filter counts: new, unassigned, mine, needs callback, overdue. Bulk review, assign and clear.
Public tip page
One page per case under your agency's logo and contact details, in English and Spanish, with reward and Crime Stoppers information. Tipsters get a reference code and can stay anonymous.
Tips without a case
An agency page takes tips about anything. They land in your inbox, and one click files them into a case or creates a case around them.
Anonymous two-way contact
Ask a tipster a task question without ever learning who they are. Replies land on the tip and notify the owner.
Tasks and workload
Dated tasks on every tip. A workload view shows open tips per detective, colored by age, and the tasks due this week.
Attachments
Photos, video, audio and documents from the public or the phone line, validated before anyone downloads them.
Notifications your way
Instant alerts, a daily digest at the hour you choose, quiet hours, per case. Urgent tips always get through.
Discovery export
A zip with a PDF of every tip and its full history, the same data as JSON, and SHA-256 hashes. Redact tipster identity with one switch.
Repeat tipster detection
The same phone or email on another tip, on any case at your agency, is flagged at intake.
Close-out
Closing a case forces a decision on every open tip, takes the public page down, and records the outcome.
Who is on a case
Everyone signs in with a Badge Apps account tied to their agency. Access is granted per case by the lead; agencies never see each other's cases.
Lead
Runs the case: members, settings, public page, close-out.
Investigator
Reviews, assigns, works and clears tips.
Tip manager
Civilians and tip line operators. Same tip powers as an investigator, so one person can triage for six detectives.
Viewer
Command staff and PIOs. Read-only, no tipster contact details.
What it costs
All tips and cases received from SolveTheCase.org are free for your agency for the entire case lifecycle to manage. Additionally, you get one free active case at a time for your agency to manage tips for. Beyond that, a lead detective with a Premium account can manage a case and receive tips. All the partner detectives on the case can be free Badge Apps accounts as long as the lead detective is Premium.
The agency inbox for tips without a case is always free and never counts against the free slot. Premium Agency subscriptions can grant everyone in your department full Premium access at one low cost. Inquire for further details.
Where tips come from
Your agency's public tip page, your own phone line and front desk, solvethecase.org, Need to ID, and Coreincident. Every source is labeled on the tip, and the public pages carry your Crime Stoppers information so reward-eligible tipsters go where they should.
Start with the case that has the most tips.
